This piece is part of a small new edition in a series of one-off ashtrays begun in 2018. The series embodies an open-ended design process that remains skeptical of a final or ideal form for any piece. While repeating various formal elements and motifs, each piece is produced as a unique and not to be replicated in exact form, reflecting the ritualized and ephemeral shared social world of smoking.
